Building a small team

Since there were many things happening in parallel, I felt the need to onboard a few engineers to help me with the development activities. The challenge was normally electrical engineers expect higher salaries which I could not afford. Moreover, the office space was literally a shed on top of a five-floor building which did not have a lift for our floor. Let alone good candidates, would anyone be willing to work out of such a space? || Problem  3 ||

Nevertheless, I thought let me give it a try. I posted an Ad on some of the online job portals. The Ad contained the regular content like job description, skills required, etc. but also, I wanted to make sure the candidates knew what they were signing up into. So, I explicitly mentioned the following

“Being a startup, we cannot offer high salaries and we work out of a small makeshift office. At the moment we do not have plans of moving into a formal office until any meaningful revenue is generated through sales. Candidates open to working in such an environment may only choose to apply.

Surprisingly, I was lucky to find some very good people. They were as passionate and committed and never complained much about anything.
